Shareport + DIR-685 + Windows7 (64-bit) = no HP PSC750 printing
« on: October 24, 2009, 07:44:34 PM »

Slim chance that there's anyone else with this combination but I'll ask anyway....

How do you make this work ?

Shareport working fine on the 2nd PC, (which is still running XP) and it used to work on the primary PC when running XP but having upgraded to Win7 64-bit it fails to recognise a device server and of course the printer.

Have reinstalled the sharepoint software as well as confirming that the printer works when plugged directly into the PC but no joy at all when the printer is moved back to the DIR-685.

Appreciate any tips you guys may have to get it working under Win7.

cheers,
Garry.

Hello,

In the beginning, I had a problem like that, and it was the windows firewall that was the problem.
With Comodo firewall, all was fine.

Thanks for the reply Marc but I don't think thats whats happening in my case.

Windows firewall is off and I'm using Trend Micro for that job.  I can see the Shareport broadcast being allowed through but no response from the router.  In any case I've given up on the idea of a 64-bit operating system and restored good old WinXP and it's working fine.

64-bit processing can wait until the support is more mature.

cheers,
Garry.

Hello,

Perhaps you should try with no firewall to see if it is working.
The only problem I have ever had with the 64 bits (since Vista x64 is out) was with the 16 bits program and one scanner (the supplier never provided drivers). Everything else I have tried is working perfectly.
(of course, I am a simple user).

I have exactly the same problem with a Win7 32 bit PC and my DIR-685 router. With or without Win7 FW activated the message tell me there is no devices server ! With another PC with Win Xp there is no problem !

Have you find a solution ?

Thanks

I have exact same problem with DIR-655 HW:A4.

No problem on XP. In Win7 cannot see any device, had disable all the Windows Firewall, no luck.

I have the same problem with a DIR 628. Old Shareport worked fine on XP, None of the newer versions (3 or 4) I've tried work on Windows 7 64bit.

Can anyone from D-Link support help with this problem, please.

Thanks

I have a DIR-685, running firmware v2.00, with a canon printer attached to the USB.  Using Shareport v3.1.0 does not work for me in my XP and Win7 Pro (64-bit).  However, Shareport v1.17 works well for both my XP and win7 Pro (64-bit).

The only drawback is this old version of SharePort does not do auto connect.
