I will try that this weekend.  Looks like the rev # is up to 2.07 now, so might as well upgrade to that.   :)

I did notice one thing last night, but not sure if this could affect the issue. In my Port Forwarding tab I have a couple settings inputted.  One of my settings does cover the port necessary for the email communications (465 - Gmail SMTP).

I am trying to find out (from Q-See) if this could cause conflict between the video forwarding via Upnp file transfers and the email forwarding necessary through port 465.  Maybe, me setting these ports this way could be conflicting one or the other?  I may be way out there, but don't know enough to make that call.

Use the FW Update Process if you upgrade. Keep us posted.

Sort of off topic, but nevertheless important to share.  I was messing around with my settings (connected wirelessly to my router) and after I made a change, to try and create a Virtual network for my DVR, I hit Save Changes and nothing updated (Count down did not start).  I let it sit for a few minutes, but realized nothing was happening.  So, I closed Firefox and reopened and tried to enter my router with NO success.  For some reason, it did not like what I did last.  As a matter of a fact, I lost connectivity all together.  This was not good, as my son (Autistic) lives for his internet connection. Plus, having a teenage daughter not being able to use her iPad was ohhh so tragic.  I ended up having to DEFAULT the router and also (Not sure why) was forced to change my password on my DSL modem.  Every time I went to open a browser, AT&T would force me to a Password Save Recovery page. Then, I have to input a new password into the modem setup.  Anyways, after a few hours of fighting it, I got it all working.

Lesson learned.  Only make changes on your router when you are hard wired into it.

Now, back to trying to get my DVR to send emails out through my router.   :D

You can manage the router via wireless however the router may have re-started which also cuts the wireless off so the browser may not have received the count down data to display. I manage my routers all the time via wireless. Keep us posted on the DVR issue.

So, have you ever had an issue where you lose all connectivity upon the router starting back up? I didn't really change anything but setting up the Virtual server and then hitting restart.  I figured it would reboot the router, but everything would come back up and work as before.  Hmmm..  Maybe just a fluke incident.

Re: Security System set up help - Issue resolved
« Reply #21 on: August 14, 2012, 07:42:25 AM »

So, after dealing with tech support for a few weeks, another support guy got the ticket assigned to him and he came up with the resolution right away.  He looked at my screen shots and had me change my encryption from NONE to SSL.  BAM!   Now I get a flurry of email screen shots to my phone.  So many, that I had to turn it back off so that I can spend some time fine tuning the times I want the emails sent.

Anyways, I appreciate all of your help (FuzzyNutz), and i hope this will help someone else in the future.  If someone reads this and needs help, feel free to email me and I will do what I can to help them out as well.

Thanks!!!

Glad they found the issue. I'll keep SSL in mind. Was the SSL setting on the DVR or on the router? Thanks for the feed back.

Enjoy.
