bricked after f/w 3.08 update
« on: April 18, 2009, 06:39:57 PM »

I was having problems with port forwarding earlier, and decided to check for updated firmware to see if it would help.
its HW rev. C2
I had already updated to version 3.06 several months ago when i got the router. When i tried to update i downloaded, went in the router, found the .bin file and clicked upload.  It loaded the file (~1 min) Then went to the screen where it says please wait 87 seconds while it does its thing.  clock counted down to 0, then the webpage attempted to refresh itself (i assume the router rebooting) and i got a page load error.  The router has been unfunctional since then. All the lights work as they normally would, but no connection.  I have changed my PCs ip/dns settings back to auto assuming the update erased previous settings.  I cannot even access the router page (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) says the network link was interrupted while attempting a connection.
No combination of resetting the router, modem, or pc has helped, and i even held in the reset on the router to no avail. Also, direct connecting to the modem works fine.

Something interesting i just noticed, when connected to the router my ipconfig /all states my ip is 192.168.1.100 which is what i had it statically set as previously, even though i have reset the router multiple times.

Anybody have any advice?
Much appreciated

Do an ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew what IP address are you getting? what is you gateways IP? Can you ping that IP? then can you ping 4.2.2.2 ?

Thanks for the help.
After leaving the router unplugged for several hours and setting up the PC on a different router, the dlink started working again.  your suggestion probably would have worked i think the PC wasn't actually setting the ip/dns etc to auto even though it was selected.
