DIr-655 and shareport viewing problem
« on: October 29, 2012, 03:54:04 AM »

Sorry if this is answered before but could not find.  Have DIR-655 hardware v  A2 and Firmware V 1.35NA.  Installed shareport ((V3.0.0 r1 (sxuoto driver 3,3,8,0)) on Xp and Win & machines and cannot "see" the drive in windows Explorer.  Can see it when I access Shareport and switch between computers.  Can see it show up in the Device Managers  of both machines but do not see it in windows explorer. Any help would be appreciated.. thanks

Have you tried to use SP v4 from the DIR-835 site?

I have uninstalled Shareport 3 on both a Win XP and Win 7 machine and installed V4 based on your recommendation.   Still cannot "see" the Hard Drive i am trying to share in Windows Explorer.   Can see the Drive in the device manager under drives available but no luck in seeing the icon or the files on that drive. ?  Still stumped, but Shareport V4 looked is functioning on both machines and can switch between both computers thru Shareport.      Help.

And the USB drive is connected directly to the USB port ON the router?

Yes it is and I can see the drive in the shareport utility and and connect to it on either machine ( after releasing it on the other) but still do not see it in windows explorer?  but it shows up in the device manager as a drive under the "disk Drive" icon     Confused

Tried this link and its instructions but still no luck.

Did get a message that said this   "“192.168.0.1” is not set to establish a connection on port “File and printer sharing (SMB)”  with this computer."   this is even after removing the password on the router.

Just seems strange that this is happening to this product especially with its built in port designed to share a HD.

Usually you need to use SP to use the HDD connected to the USB port on the router. I'm not sure if runing a back door mapping is supported officially with out SP. Have you tried to remove SP v3 and install V4 from the DIR-835 site?
