DIR-835
« on: August 18, 2012, 05:00:51 PM »

Hi, I can't get my VOIP ATA (linksys SPA-2102) to work properly with the shiny new DIR-835. I updated the firmware to 1.02 and messed around with various settings but it just won't work. Well, I can get registered and everything looks ok but, when I receive a call, the person at the other end can't hear me. I can hear them fine, but they can't hear me. I don't have any problem when I call someone. Still, it is frustrating. The problem persist even though I put the ATA in the DMZ.

HELP !

I'll throw this router away soon ...

For those that experience intermittent stability issues with the DIR-835, you can try to disable the "True Gigabit Routing Connectivity" under Setup->Internet->Manual Internt Connection.

I'm still going to take this router back. After many hours of debugging, i couldn't make the VOIP work. And no, I don't have an Arris modem, I have a Thomson DCM475. But I use the videotron cable up to my 3rd party ISP which is Electronic Box.

Is the 835 getting a public or private IP address. If your getting a private IP address from your ISP modem then your VOIP wont work possibly due to Double NAT. Any router wont work in this configuration with VOIP. Does the VOIP device work if you directly connect to the ISP modem?

I would check with the Mfr of the VOIP device to see what, if any ports or special configurations on ISP Modems and routers that device needs.

It's possible that there is an incompatibility between the 835 and this VOIP device or just not supported.
