Remote Backup Folder
« on: November 12, 2012, 11:59:34 AM »

Hello,

I have a DNS-320 configured to receive Remote Backups (RSync).

The backups work great and i can see the files in the correct folders in the Web File Server, but i'd like to browse them from a Windows PC.

I have shared the folder containing the backups, but all i see is a blank folder. I have the correct rights since i can make folders and copy files to that folder without any problems but i cant see the backups.

Any help?

Anyone?

i've come to think i dont have the correct access rights to the auto-generated "backup.0" , "backup.1" etc. folder created by the rsync process. But how to correct this? the parent folder is shared with the right permissions and i can access it.

Have you tried Web File Server app and change the properties on filesystem object? You can change the mode bits, you can't change the owner.
If that doesn't help you then FFP and Linux shell will do the job for sure. At your own risk, of course.

i think ownership is the problem here...

is there a way to change it from the gui? or how do i do it with other means? remember i need to access the subfolders. the original shared folder is accessed with full rights.

You can change every subfolder from Web File Server.
However, I know of no means to change ownership of filesystem objects via GUI.
FFP and command shell are your only options here.
