DSL-2770L. WIFI incompatibilities.
« on: March 20, 2014, 11:31:56 AM »

Dear all,

I have DSL-2770L with firmware ver.1.06, the lastest version.

I have connected through WIFI: iMac, two iPhones and Macbook Air with any problem, but...

Recently I tried to connect two computers, with different WIFI cards:
Intel Centrino N-2230 & Realtek one (forget name, I will update thread as soon as I know the model).
Both wifi cards have different problems with WIFI.

Realtek: Can connect to WIFI (wpa2, open, dhcp, manual... doesn't matter) but can't navigate in internet.
Intel: Can't connect to WIFI, (wpa2, open, dhcp, manual...), always windows said, can't connect....

In both cases, Win8.1 clean install.
I tried with other router in my job and works perfectly.

PS: It's curious that only Apple devices works perfect...

If you disable the WPA2 and OPEN the WiFi with out security temporarily, does the two Windows 8 PCs work then?

Ensure you have updated WiFi adapter drivers on the PCs if any is used.
Ensure you clear the browser caches before browsing.
Can you ping the routers IP address from a command line?

I wrote: With open wifi, dhcp or manually config, it doesn't matter, always fail.
Clean Win8.1 install, so no cache problems.

WIFI drivers fully updated to the last in both cases
With Realtek, just once I can ping and maybe 1 minute navigated SO slow that can't donwnload Google.com logo, but 99% of time, it's doesn't navigate at all.

With Intel, it's more easy to explain. NEVER connect to WIFI, wpa, open wifi, dhcp, manually, nope.

What wireless modes are you using? Can single modes be set on this model? Try single mode G, OPEN then try single mode N and OPEN. Is there a Channel Width setting? Try 20Mhz only.

  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
  • If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, Extra Wireless Protection and HT 20/40 Co-existence if you have it. Also testing with HT20/40Mhz Co-existence enabled will impact results as well. I prefer to use this option OFF. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

With Realtek I tried G only, N only, both in 20Mhz. (In router config, if you choose 40Mhz it's doesn't save, always show both).

With Intel, I need to try only G, but it seems will be the same as Realtek card.

And G only fails as well?

I presume that wired LAN connections are ok?

I don't tried wired connection. but wired connection will use another LAN card in both computers (have Realtek+wifi card). I will try but I can't use this way in normal use.

Yes, only G fails.

This night I will try something more but it seems to be a nightmare...

Ok, see how wired goes.
Did you follow this for doing the FW update?

Since you said that these two devices work else where and you are having a problem here on this modem, I'll recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and get immediate help and information.

So, wired no problem.

Now, I succeed to work with Intel. with open wifi + IP manually + only N + using modded driver.

But works soooooooo slowly.

Something is not fully compatible between router-wifi cards in those connections.

If I call to regional D-Link support, they will offer to change router (again). This is my 2nd router, first because, before new firmware, randmly hang up (Actually I opened thread in this forum). This is not the solution.

I presume that if this is the 2nd model modem that exhibiting the same issues, that the modem and these WiFi adapters may not be compatible. You may need to seek a different solution...
