deleted files...
« on: December 23, 2012, 05:35:48 AM »

Hey all

I'm new here, and have a "stupid" question...

All is working on my DNS-320, i have 2 x seagate 1TB's installed, running smoothly of the WIFI network and no issues with access, torrent downloads ect... but what boggles me is:

When i delete a file from the drive, regardless if i'm using my PC via network share, web file manager,FTP ect...the

1. Storage status indicator never changes? (IE increases in size ) (even after restart or re-login)
2. When i navigate to the recycle bin, there are no items displayed which i have deleted..

So the main question is :
How/where can i view deleted items + then "empty" the recycle bin permanently to gain the space again?

I'm running Win 7HP on my laptop, DNS320 has the latest firmware ver. 2.03, and logging in with admin account?

Thanks in advance !

Pieter

To a large extent what you see in the 'Storage Status' on the login welcome page is an approximation if you rely on the coloured bar.  There is also the size of your drives to take into consideration - deleting a number of small files (up to 1 GB) isn't going to make much impression on 1 TB.

As far as I know, Ajaxexplorer is the only thing that uses a recycle bin and then only for those items deleted via it - I am making that as an assumption because we never use it.  Everything else is deleted when you delete it - they are not stored anywhere in case you made a mistake.  At least that is the way our DNS-320s work.
