Hi guys, i'm new to the forum, and have done a lot of searching and can't seem to find a resolution to my problem, so decided to post and see what happens.
Ok, so i bought my DIR-685 from Ebay and everything is working well, i then put a HDD pulled from an old laptop in it a Hitachi HTS725032A360 320GB 7200RPM Sata 3GB/s drive (known to be working), which i have tried formatting NTFS, EXT3 and leaving raw. When i turn the router on, it sounds like it spins the drive up, and then get stuck with a noise i can only describe as a higher pitch beeping/clicking nose. The boot goes through ok, and it says "Detecting Hard Drive" on the LCD however that is all, the noise doesn't stop and the message stays.
The DIR-685 i have is running "Firmware Version : 1.00 , Tue 26 May 2009" and is hardware version "A1". I did find the compatibility list
ftp://ftp.dlink.fr/DIR/DIR-685/Documentations/DIR-685_HD_Compatibility_list_090602.pdf here, obviously my drive is not listed, I was wondering if anyone had experienced similar issues, if it is an issue with the Firmware or formatting of the drive, or is it simply an imcompatibility issue with the HDD and Router?
Thank you for any help, and if i have left any details of vitality out please do request.
