Logs, Wireless DHCP list
« on: April 21, 2009, 06:42:46 PM »

Have had the 655 for a week now. everything seems to be working as should except.... There is no info in any of the logs. No DHCP client list, no internet sessions, no statistics. System Info is there. On the log tab it says "please wait, while logs are being recieved". Hours later nothing has changed. All the log types are checked, and nothing there. I tried to send by email and that doesn't work either. Yes email notifications are set up.

Hardware ver.A4 FW 1.21 no sharepoint (have tried both) Windows XP Pro SP3

Am I missing something somewhere.

Help....... ???

When you first logged in to the router did you install the MSXML 5.0 ?

If you did, disable it in the manage add-ons,  this is what is keeping the logs from showing up.

You most likely already had the 6.0 version on your system and installing the 5.0 is what is causing you to not see the logs.  You just have to ignore the menu bar prompting to to install the 5.0 version in the future.

Thank you for the quick reply. Checked for installed add-ons and there was no MSXML 5.0. Had 3.0, 4.0 and 6.0. Disabled 3.0 and 4.0 with no luck.

Still scratching my head. I don't remember seeing a banner requesting 5.0 or anything else. I did a manual set-up.

Any other ideas?

Do you have DHCP turned on on the 655?

DHCP is turned on and the router is assigning addresses in a range of 192.168.0.100-->192.168.0.106

Netbios broadcast box is checked, local domain name is set and the router is send the network name out to all the clients. Still it doesn't report any info on the logs.

Out of all of my devices 3 computers are always on wirelessly, one computer hardwired and a printer and two game boxes are used daily but are not always on. Of those one is "n" the rest are "G". They all have addresses in the DHCP range. All except the printer anre set to DHCP client the printer has a STATIC address set in it but DHCP is assigning the address.

I left the router log page open all night last night and still no log onfo has been aqquired or filled in. I think there is a log server issue in the router  and I will have to RMA the router. Have used Linksys wireless routers before with no issues, and the 2wire set-up this one had no logging problems.

Maybe the router GUI has a problem?

Since 1.21 firmware is not the best possible, try upgrading to 1.22 beta 05.
This is much more stable and might even fix this issue. You can downgrade with the 1.22 beta, but stay away from beta 1.30/1.31.

Up loaded 1.22b05 and it resolved all issues. Logs all up, DHCP client lists and drop-downs all up. Email function haven't checked but Ping is up.

Lost signal quality on my "n" card (77% -->43%) and 320mb to 124mb although it is still running on 2 channels. Might be the channels router set to scan. Wonder if I lock them down to the strongest ones?

I guess I can live with that now as they will probably fix that in the final release.

Thanx again for your help.

Set the channel selection to manual and scan the environment to see which channels are used by neighbouting AP's. Avoid those already being used. And fiddle some more with the antenna positions. These are crucial.
