The Truth About Firmware 1.15
« on: April 22, 2009, 04:29:23 PM »

Ok, I am hearing a lot of things.  I personally upgraded to 1.15 and I have the wireless disable bug.  I just want to know what is really wrong with 1.15.  I seem ok except for that bug, everything else works fine, but given the amount of people speculating and emotional (rightfully so) about their problems, it is hard to get good factual info.  If anyone could enlighten me I would really appreciate it.

It is unfortunate that Dlink isn't properly owning up to the problems.  1.15 and all the other firmwares are still on their website.  I really wish customer service, and quality control was better in America.

I tried disabling the wireless as well and I had the same bug.  I'm still having gaming issues, and it's not very fun at all.  I shouldn't have to remove security to get ANYTHING to work properly.  I should be able to have my filtering at the defaults (not endpoint independent) and get it to work.  I should be able to host Battle.net games properly too...

Just a few of the problems with these firmwares.  I've complained for over a year now...and I've yet to see any fix for this stuff.

It seems that if you have an early h/w model the later f/w will not work well with them. Looking into the other routers on the forum you see a similar pattern for each. The A1s tend to have problems with the latest f/w. Yet the A2s-A4s work as intended with the later f/w.

Still to this day f/w 1.02 is up on the support download page yet you can’t use it once you go to anything 1.12 and up. It has become more and more apparent the performance I had with the dgl-4500 with 1.02 was a fluke.

What does all this mean, and how do I tell what model I have.  If they used to have good performance and a firmware upgrade screwed them up, then it isn't a fluke.

BTW, when you say performance, is this wireless, wired?  What do you mean by "performance"

Ignore him...he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.  He doesn't make any sense right now...I know that there's A2's and A4's...but those are for the DIR-655.

And as far as I know, there doesn't seem to be any other versions of the 4500 except A1 and A2.  The latter only has different shipping firmware.

You can find out your hardware version by looking on the sticker.  It says H/W Version.

Still has issues as I mentioned before.  It's been quite a long while since we've had a decent working firmware.  We haven't gotten ANY updates since the Beta that didn't work too well for me.

i have firnware 1.15 and the wireless is great!!!!!

these are some tweaks i found out i think this should work
it should make the wireless signal more stable.

lower the beacon interval to 80,
the rts/cts number to 2200,

No, I read it.  But, you can't even compare those others to the DGL series..

Was only pointing out a similar pattern I noticed with f/w and h/w for other routers on the forum. Your claim to I not knowing what I was talking about itself made no sense.
