At our organization we are using 16GB iPad2 for our staff daily logins. Among our site locations we have a mixture of DAP-2590 and DWL-8200 APs mounted throughout the building, with the latest firmware installed.
On a daily basis we receive calls that staff cannot login due to the WiFi being down. The iPad will show that it's connected to our WiFi network, however it cannot get anywhere on the internet.
We have a firewall that sits behind a PoE switch that all the APs connect to. The firewall is then uplinked to a comcast modem that brings everything out.
I've already confirmed that our upstream devices weren't the cause as I was able to hard wire my laptop into a port on the firewall and got out, as well I did on the comcast modem.
The WiFi issue can only be fixed by either a) disconnecting and re-connecting the WiFi network on the iPad and /or b) power cycling the APs.
I'm going to try changing wireless bands to 'g' and changing the channel. From what I can see on inSSIDer, at some of our sites we have other wireless networks in the area that bleed into our environment.
I'd like to test another AP product from a different vendor as well to see if maybe there is some sort of incompatibility with this particular dlink AP and the iPad2
