Block MAC address not working for Win8 machines
« on: January 24, 2013, 07:54:06 AM »

I have a DSL-2750B B1 product on firmware AU_2.05.
(I upgraded to 2.07, but it didn't fix the problem).
I have set up a schedule from 2am - 9am.
Under parental controls I have added a rule to block a MAC address based on that schedule.

At 2am access is not blocked.

The modem time is correct.
The PC is set up with a DHCP reservation using it's MAC address. I have confirmed the PC is getting the correct IP address. The settings on the PC are set to DHCP. The MAC address is not spoofed.

I'm damned if I can figure out why this is happening.

There are two machines at least that this appears not to work on. They are both Windows 8 that I upgraded over Christmas. I will test some windows 7 machines tomorrow, but when all PCs here were on windows 7 it was working fine.

Are there any know issues with Windows 8 and this DLink product?

Any ideas?

Update: I have run tests on Windows 7 machines: They are blocked properly. It is only the Windows 8 machines that the router will not block.

So is that a Windows 8 bug or a router bug?

Would appear to be a compatibility or configuration issue with in Windows networking and the modem.

I recommend that you phone contact DLink support and inquire about this.

Please let us know if you find out anything.
