DFL-210
« on: August 07, 2010, 09:07:09 PM »

Can someone please help? Just purchased a brand new DFL-210 firewall. Right out of the box, i plugged it up, connected a straight through cable to one of the four LAN ports, and used the default 192.168.1.1 to connect to it and configure. I see the LED indicating a connection between the laptop and the firewall. However, I keep getting, 'page cannot be displayed'. I tried resetting the firewall twice got the same error. I tried connecting one of the LAN ports to a switch, then running the laptop to the switch, no luck either. Please help! ???

You have to make your pc which connect to firewall of the same subnet as 192.168.1.1.

So you can give your PC with ip 192.168.1.10  mask: 255.255.255.0  gateway: 192.168.1.1

It will work.

I have the same problem with a new DFL-210. Tried Explorer, Firefox and Chrome (latest versions, firefox and chrome on both win7 and linux). Firefox only gave the 'page cannot be displayed' response. Chrome mostly gives the same response except for one or two times whet it has let me login (but not start the setup wizard). Explorer also mostly gives the 'page cannot be displayed' response. I was able to login once, but halfway through the setup wizard it starts giving me the 'page cannot...' message again.

I followed the instructions in the manual. https://, ip: 192.168.1.30, mask: 255.255.255.0, gateway: 192.168.1.1 and has been able to connect, though not often and not for long.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Edit: Hardware version: A4 & Firmware version: 2.26.00

Edit2: Tried again today and it worked! Not right away though, for a while the 'page cannot...' seemed to occur only when the firewall was connected to the rest of the network through the wan port. Then a few minutes later I had no problems at all. Might be some autoconfig running in the background that cripples the webserver...

I still cannot access the internet through the firewall... Have setup the ip and dhcp settings but think I might be missing some port forwarding/ip rules/access/whatever settings. Network management is not really my cup of tea. :(

Show output of ipconfig /all from your PC.

Try to ping 192.168.1.1 - success or not?

Try to look at your proxy server setting if it is populated. It it is try unchecking it. Be sure you hve the same forest & subnet mask...

You need to setup a DNS relay, the DFL series don't act as a DNS server.  This link should help: ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DFL-210/REV_A/SetupGuides/How_to_configure_DNS_Relay.pdf

Hi Guys.

I am trying to change the IP of the firewall to be in range of our network. When I do so it goes to the page where it tells you log in as admin within 30sec. When I do go to the new IP it keeps saying page cannot be displayed. I have tried manually and atomically.

This has not been successful...

Any advice on changing the IP via the web configuration?

I know this thread is old but I'll give an answer in case someone is having similar problems now.
After you change the IP address of the firewall, you need to change the address of the computer you're using to connect to the firewall within the 30 seconds.
Firstly, to make this easier, set the reconnect time to a higher value by going into System -> Remote Management -> Advanced Settings (next to the Add button) and change Validation Timeout to something higher (like 60 seconds or maybe 120 seconds).

Now bring up the network properties on the computer that you're using to connect to the firewall and enter the ip, subnet mask, and default gateway of the network you're changing to but don't press OK (obviously the default gateway will equal the firewall and the ip must be something that's not already on the network). Then change the ip address of the firewall and then when you see the reconnecting in xx seconds screen, hit OK on the network properties on the computer to change to the new addresses and then once they change, enter the new ip address of the firewall into the browser window and hit enter and it should reconnect, causing the firewall to hold onto that config and not revert.

Note, these settings work in DFL-860e and DFL-1660 but I don't have a DFL-210 to test it on but it should all be similar if not equal.
