I have a simple setup.

PC1---AP~~~~~DAP-2553----PC2.

When I do anything that send traffic from PC2 to PC1. After a download for few mins, everything
stops. Looks like DAP-2553 is not bridging the traffic properly from PC2 to AP.

I do the following::
1) ping PC2 from DAP-2553, through telnet, works.
2) ping AP, from DAP-2553, works.
3) ping from AP to DAP-2553, works.
4) ping DAP-2553 from PC2 works.
5) ping PC2 from AP doesn't work.
6) ping AP from PC2 doesn't work.

Clearly something is broken after sometime in DAP-2553.
Any ideas ?

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under DAP.

What region are you located?

What wireless modes are you using on the host AP?
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.

Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?

Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition,and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it.

Enable WMM Enable.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

I've checked all the settings, none of them are enabled, definitely none of the restricting ones.
I would like to also clarify that this setup has been running fine for a while, then suddenly
it stops as if something has been aged out in the DAP. For packets coming from PC2 to PC1
I would expect DAP to use a 4-address wireless frame. But it uses a 3-address mode.

Region is Asia. No other devices connected. Will play around with
wireless parameters like sgi, bw etc, but remember it has been working,
suddenly it stops after a while.


If we can login as root into DAP, maybe we can check different routing/bridging tables to see
something is wrong. Can we login as root.
