How do you add a usb connected printer to a mac
« on: January 20, 2013, 06:33:47 AM »

Hi,

I have a dns-325 and have a samsung clp 315 connected to my device.

on my windows pc, i can see the printer share and connect to it as \\dns-325\lp.  I have also fixed the ip address as 192.168.0.100

Problem is, on the mac, when i look at the shares via the finder, the printer isn't listed.  When i add the printer in the system preferences, if i use IP, it doesn't let me type in the address as above and if i use windows, click on workgroup, the nas isn't listed.

I am a bit stuck.  Any help welcome

Good old Mac's first thing first is to install the driver on the mac
then you need to port this over to the printer using the Nas ip but from the driver on the mac
you may have to install this first as a local printer then change the port over
The printer appears as any other shared printer but its not
Your nas runs on a Lynex platform but i hit the mac wall allot when installing photo copiers and macs need to talk direct and not via a pc
You may find that your better off getting the dlink router with a USB on the back as that is then shared via the network and not the Nas
