Alright I have taken some of your suggestions and I am still having the same problems.

I did a hard reset (push button on back) and went through the setup again.
I used the setting suggestions.

Currently, the router is not connected to the internet. I only have the necessary items connected to this router to try and eliminate all the variables:

1. windows media center pc
2. xbox (windows media extender)
3. switch
4. router
5. network tv tuner

The symptoms are the same. When the device is idle for a short period of time (few minutes), connection is lost between the xbox and WMC PC. Xbox restarts, then successfully connects to WMC PC, idle, connection lost, and the cycle continues....

Thanks for your help.

How do you have these devices all connected. If you could paint us a picture of what it looks like and where the devices are place between each other, would help some, i.e. ISP modem>Router>Switch><client connected devices?

Router>wmc pc>>>>switch>xbox>TV tuner

I have no problems with this setup with another router.
I also turned off wifi trying to eliminate all the variables.
I didn't notice the problem for the short period after resetting everything. I will try and perform some more testing again tonight.

I recommend that you place the switch after the router then connect the xbox, PC and TV Tuner to the switch. This should maintain connection. Having your PC between the router and other devices is probably what is causing the problem and is not a preferred or supported method of network connections.

Ok. The pc is not really in between the router and switch. I wasn't very clear on the description.
There are two cables connected to the router.
1. Ethernet to PC
2. Ethernet to switch

All the devices connected to the switch are in another room. Everything must go through the router.

Having the PC and the xbox and TV tuner connected to the switch will help eliminate any unnecessary router processing and configuration. See if you can get the PC connected on to the switch and give it a test.

Keep us posted.

I didn't do anything last night except maybe reboot anything and I didn't notice any problems. Maybe everything needed a good restart. I will try to test some more tonight and slowly add wireless, Internet, and other devices to see if the problem arises again. I want to eventually add my server with dhcp and DNS capabilities and turn these off on the router.

I successfully connected back my amahi server with dns and dhcp servers. I have disabled these features on the router. I have had no noticeable problems so far. I can't think of anything I've done differently before except to make sure to reboot everything. Thanks for your help. I will try to turn on wifi and integrate other devices back to the network.

Good to hear, glad it's working for you. Might turn that 655 into an AP since some of the services are not being used.  ;)

Enjoy.
