Disappearing drives.
« on: March 19, 2013, 07:16:54 PM »

Couldn't see anything for this, but possible i missed it.

I'm running 2 drives, one which is 750GB and another which is 1.5TB. Not using raid, just have both drives setup for access, and having a weird issue with the 1.5TB occasionally disappearing until i reboot it (it's only the 1.5TB and not the 750GB). Happens roughly once a month.

Currently i'm logged into the browser based interface through an internal IP address, and in the column on the right hand side of the screen, it shows both drives there, with details of space used, space available, etc as normal. But when I go to the drive on any windows machine on the network, the 750GB is there (under volume 1 under D-Link in the network) and shows the disc's contents.

Volume 2 is also there, but when i go into it, it appears blank, and reports no space used, and no space available, yet in the sharecenter interface, it still appears to be there.

In system status, it lists both drive details including space used and free, so it is reading it, but when i click on the hard drive info section, it only shows the 750GB and no sign of the 1.5TB.

When i go through a reboot, the 1.5TB shows up again, and all seems fine, but am looking for a way to stop this from losing the drive.

I don't believe there's any fault with the drive, as It's a fairly new drive and surface scans on it have revealed no issues.

The current NAS firmware version is 2.02, incase anyone was going to ask. I'm aware that a newer version may be available, but I'de like to know if there's some issue that's causing this.

Wild guess but i think its the firmware.

If the drive otherwise behaves correctly software glitch would likely seem the case.
