My DNS320 will not talk to Win8
« on: April 17, 2013, 12:39:41 AM »

I have a DNS320 for two years and work with Win7 with no problem.
The Storage Utility Support interface recognise the DNS320 immediate and I could map to it.
NOT with Win8.
I could not get Win8 to see the DNS.
I could ping both the router and the DNS with no problem but it could not see the DNS.
In referring to Dlink their support staff was nice BUT I could not belive the reply.
They told me 'At this stage Storage Utility support for Windows 8 is not available. We have flagged this with R&D to look into as a future upgrade however we cannot provide a timeframe or guarantee that it will become available.'
This is still a current model and they have not upgraded the firmware to make it work on Win8?
You have got to be kidding!!!
Does anyone has any suggestion how do I map my DNS to my Win8 based computer when the Storage Utility Support could not see the device?
Thank you.

Very frustrated Michael

One correction. . . The DNS-320 was phased out of production on 9/1/2012

I have no such problem connecting with mine, you don't need the Storage Utility. It just sees it natively as a network drive, you just need to set up a static IP for the DNS-320..

Hi,

Same answer as JuLx64. There's nothing special to do with W8. It recognizes the shares as network drives on the DNS immediatly, without storage utility...
What is you network configuration on the DNS ?

Bye
