I'm trying to get Wake on lan working over the internet. I've got it working on my home network so I know that the PC I'm waking is capable of being woken.
The Router I've got is a Dlink DSL-2680
So far I've set up a DDNS host, which the Dlink allows me to do and I can ping the host name and the IP address of my router appears... except when the router IP address changes the host doesn't appear to get updated, the whole point of DDNs?. I don't know if there's some sort of delay or whether I have to apply a mystery setting on the router. If I reput my host password in and "apply" it then the host does get updated.
I've opened ports 7 and 9, some post say this is done in Virtual server but that doesn't appear in my menu
I'm using a magic packet generator from depicus which works on my lan.
When I'm trying to do it over the internet
I'm leaving the mac address as for wake up from my lan which I know works
I'm changing the the IP address to my ddns host name and using a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
I've tried setting the port to 7 and 9.
I've tried using my routers IP address instead of the ddns host name
So far all this is without success.
Anyone any clues Cheers
