DIR-825 web interface timeout?
« on: May 01, 2013, 07:51:37 AM »

Apologies if this has been asked a million times, but a search for 'DIR-825 timeout' only returned a half page and none were relevant.

DIR-825 2.03NA - The web interface has a ridiculously low timeout value. 60 seconds maybe?

I can't build a list of MAC addresses, e.g., before it reaches the timeout. I try to save.... and I have to log back in. And my changes are gone.

What's maddening is that it WAS working the way I wanted, with seemingly no timeout, until recently when I had to basically re-do my network.

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Link>Welcome!

What region are you located?
Has a factory reset been performed?

What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again? They do the same thing?

USA, have not done a factory reset since.... oh, ages ago. Haven't needed to.

Using firmware 2.03NA

I've only used Firefox, but will try IE and see if that matters.

Was hoping this was actually a "setting" of some sort.

Ya, there isn't an option to disable the time out. Been some users that notice this and some that it seems to work. I timed a few routers a while back and usually 60 seconds in the trigger.

You could try this, use a 2nd tab in the same browser, just pointed at a different page on the router, and on this tab, if you an click on different areas on this tab once before the 60sec runs out, this should reset the trigger each time you select on something.

Maybe see if you can create a script that selects 2 different options on the page automatically while you work on the 1st tab doing the configuration. Just seems like we need to reset the trigger by doing something on the routers web page while you configure the router.

Ever heard of Opus iMacros for FF? Simple automation scrip tool. This might help.

I'd have to check but maybe they included the "Reboot Later" option in v2.07 or v2.09. I can't confirm this as I loaned my 825. Having the Reboot Later option also helps in resetting the trigger timeout.
