Folders are there but no files!

So I'm having major issues with backing up my pc. I am now able to backup folders, but no files are in my backup, just empty folders. I constantly get an 'Fail to write directory.....blah blah blah...' error but don't know where I'm going wrong.....any help is appreciated!
