Help with D-view cam live view settings - server tab
« on: July 04, 2013, 02:45:46 AM »

Please can someone help me with this, as I am not very technical and am totally lost.  In the D-view cam, I am getting a black screen.  I can access the camera etc online through D-link, but want to use D-view cam to access the camera and be able to record.
In live view settings on the server tab, it's asking for the following details and I am lost.  I have tried to enter certain things, but I am getting server not available.  So can someone please tell me what to put in each line and make it as simple as possible :).

Server name: ?
address:?
port: 5150 (that is what it has in already, but someone said it's 80???)
username: ?  (is this the username for signing in to d-link online?)
password: ? (is this the password to sign in to d-link online)

Do I have to have something connected while I do all this eg ethernet cable attached to camera to router?

Thanks for any help :)

Can another member with experience configuring D-ViewCam, please chime in and provide some guidance on configuring the application?

Thanks  ;)

I don't use the DViewCam software frequently, but here are the basic steps to add a camera.

First you need to make sure you camera is working via the MyDlink.com site.  If you can access it here it should be properly setup to allow DView to see the camera.

When you first open the app you should be prompted to login if you have a password setup.  The next screen will have a large black area that will display the camera(s) video.  Right below the black box you should see several buttons that will bring up menus when you click on them.  Click on the one that looks like a gear.  Click on the menu item that says Settings.  Another menu will appear and click on the option that says System Settings.  The screen that opens will have a list of tabs across the top, open the one that says Camera.  On that screen you should see a search option, click it and it should find any cameras setup on your network.

If no cameras appear in the list you need to verify that each camera has UPnP enabled.  Once the cameras are listed select each one and enter the user name and password for each camera's admin account then click ok.  You should see it access the camera and start to display a live feed from the camera.  From there you should be able to adjust some setting for that camera but you should be able to just click ok to get you going.  Once you click ok you will be taken back to the main screen and each camera you added should be streaming to your main window.

If the DViewCam software seems a little complex you may want to look into using an microSD card with your camera.  It should let the camera save video directly to the card then you can access the saved video either through MyDlink.com or via the camera's web admin page.

Hope this helps!
