DCS-5222L Bad image colors
« on: July 23, 2013, 06:30:32 AM »

Hello,
I've just purchased a brand new DCS-5222L.
I've correctly installed it and get connected to my wireless network.
Camera is correctly registered to mydlink portal.
I can connect to the Camera via http:// and iOS or Android as well.
Remote control works fine, Camera Control works fine as well, and also Night Mode.
But there is a "huge" problem with image colors.
Image colors are busted during daylight and also spotlight.

I've tried many times to hard reset, tried to upgrade firmware (1.11), tried to downgrade firmware(1.10, 1.00, 1.01), tried many times to calibrate but always without results.
Of course, this problem is present with any type of browser, any type of OS (Windows, OSX) and also in mydlink portal.
Is there someone who can help?

Thanks
Francesco

I have no issues running with infrared and night mode all the time.

What is "spotlight" ?

The camera sensor is very small...  Place your camera outside during sunlight, and it will probably show all your colors.  You probably don't have enough indoor light during the day, and the image gets grainy. ???

As you can see I have placed the camera in front of 3 windows during sunlight at 11am.
Amount of light is not my problem (of course I've placed it outside during sunlight). The problem is how the camera show colors.
Even if there is "low light", you should not have that type of image.
Btw, thanks for your response.

Pictures are worth more than a 1,000 words.  Thanks for the update.

I have value on my 5222L:

Brightness 50
Saturation 50
Contrast 50
Hue 50
B/W off
Mirror off
Flip off
Frequency auto
White Balance auto
Slow Shutter 1/3.75

Does Reset to Default button change to the values I have above and does it get worse?

How is night mode with infrared?
Go into audio and video and play with DAY/NIGHT MODE.. be sure to save after change.

p.s.  I've only seen colors worse than that on my phone's camera that was all busted up.

I tried also play with those values (Brightness, Hue, Saturation and so on)... and no way  :-\
Tried to reset to default values but no changes at all.
With infrared images are better but seems like there is something going wrong with lighted surfaces.

I've done the ultimate test:
-took a 100% working 5222L from my colleague (same firmware)
-export configuration from my-5222L
-import my configuration to colleague-5222L
-colleague-5222L works fine.

After that, I've requested an RMA from vendor with this diagnosis:
"hardware sensor damaged".
They will send me a new camera.

thanks a lot.
