Hey all,
I've had this DNS-325 now for almost 2 years and its just been awesome. But I and the owner of my company ( who also owns the exact same model ) have run into a big problem.
The owner of my company has not been able to use his Apple TV 2 and other media devices with it for almost a month now. He brought it into the shop and I setup it up connected to his notebook ( direct CAT6 connection to the notebooks NIC ). Disabled his wireless and I could see the drive and the contents, everything is there I can move and use any file. So that was great, no data loss. So I proceeded to login to the WebUI and this is where things went south. I can login but get nothing but blank screens. Only thing I can click on is Logout and the Shutdown or restart. So I removed the two 2TB drives running in raid 1 out of his drivebay and proceeded to reset the NAS storage unit using reset button on the back, held it in for 10 seconds and let it reset. Logged in again to the WebUI and saw the exact same thing. I am unable to adjust any settings or even click on anything but logout. The owner hasn't done anything since he purchased the drive 2 years ago.
Now this morning I had picked up two Western Digital Black 1TB 64MB Cache drives to run in a raid 1 for myself. ( I am currently using a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB in it ). The reason I am doing this is so I can get more space. I am repairing a lot of PC's right now and need the extra storage for data backups since no one ever has one of their own
Last weekend though while just cleaning my basement I was streaming some music from the DNS-325 to my PS3 like I've done in the past many times. But all of sudden the music just stopped which has never happened. I restarted the music but when it came to the exact same song again it stopped. I can not scroll down any further and I get a DLNA error on the TV. Thinking meh, I'll fix it later... So this morning I backed up all my data from the drive and wanted to update my firmware since I haven't done it in two years. Went to login to the WebUI and bleh exact same thing. I have a pic of what I mean:
Its the exact same issue as what the owner of my company is having. I am pretty sure the FW has become corrupt as its the only explanation that I could come up with. But I can still copy data back and forth, use the data etc. I just can't make any changes to the drivebay. I can't setup the new drives as I can't use the WebUI to do so.
Anyone know what's going on? Is there a way to upgrade the FW outside of the WebUI?
