Hi,

I just bought this router a couple days ago, everything seems to be working great, except for 2 devices.  Wondering if anyone can explain this to me:

Everything else connects no problem, except my Samsung phone (which i know is an existing issue) and my Nintendo 3DS

Both of them show up in my Suspect Devices list on MyDlink. Ive added DHCP reservations for them to see if that would help, but every day i get warnings that unwelcomed devices are trying to connect. Can I add an exception for those 2 so I dont get the email alerts anymore?

I also get these errors in the log every couple seconds:

Why would the lease time be -1?

It repeats every couple seconds as well:

Does that mean it gets an IP from the router, releases it (because lease time is -1), then renews again right away?

• What region are you located?
• Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates?
• Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Wireless Configurations

• Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
• What wireless modes are you using?
• 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N on 5Ghz?
• Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
• Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
• What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
• What wireless devices do you have connected?
• Any cordless house phones?
• Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
• If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
• Enable WMM Enable Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

What supporting WiFi security modes do the Samsung and Nintendo support? WPA? WEP? I hope that newer generation Nintendo supports WPA now? They only supported WEP initially.

What model is the Samsung? 4S?

I'm in Canada, I did a Factory reset when I first setup the router, but I did not do it after the firmware update. I did the update before I started configuring the router though.

I have changed the SSID name (for both 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands)

on the 2.4 Ghz im using Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b
on the 5Ghz i have Mixed 802.11a and 802.11n

channel width is set to 20/40 Mhz (auto)

Security is WPA-Personal for both

There are several other devices conneced, an Xbox, a 2nd phone, laptop, and 2 dlink cloud cameras, all other devices seem fine, have no issues with them

There is a cordless phone in the house, I can try turning it off.

One other wireless router shows up in the area, assuming a neighbor. It has a very weak signal from my house.

The WMM Enable mode is enabled, but the option is greyed out, I cannot change it

The phone is a Galaxy infuse 4G (couple years old), Im not too concerned that one, I did read it was an ongoing issue. Just not too sure whats up with the DS.  The Nintendo uses WPA and I can connect sometimes. I was messing around with it this morning and it would not connect at all, even though my other devices were online and working fine. I rebooted the router, and the Nintendo connected successfully, it will most likely lose connection again by the time i get home though. I still get the unwelcomed user messages from the mydlink app for that device though. What determines what an unwelcomed user is? I setup the device myself, added it to my network, why would it be considered an unwelcome user?

I will try some of your suggestions and report back with the results.

I would do a factory reset and then set up the router from scratch. Remove the device from mydlink.com and then re-register again.

A factory reset seemed to resolve the issues I was having.  Both troublesome devices have been connected for a few days now with no issues and neither have shown up in my "Suspect Devices" list.
