« on: June 30, 2013, 03:22:06 AM »

HI,i have a DIR-825 B1 fw 2.05EU and a Huawei hg665d adsl modem/router.
I have a NAS wich is wired to the DIR and a htpc and laptop wich a wireless connected using N-only wpa personal with WPA2 only and TKIP and AES.I also use the 2,4Ghz radio for devices that dont support 5Ghz.
My problem is that when i stream video from my laptop or from my nas to my htpc it sometime's happens that the stream stops after some time and one of the devices has lost it's connection somehow. Is there anyone that can help me get this fixed?
I have Qos engine off

Link>Welcome!

Wireless Configurations
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion
  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N on 5Ghz?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • Any cordless house phones?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
  • If you have any of theese options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Does it happen when streaming on 5Ghz or wired LAN connections?

Does it happen on a different 5Ghz device?
Turn off any of the additional features like WISH, WPS.
How far away is the client device from the router?

What region are you located?

Are there any obstructions in between the router and your devices? 5Ghz is best in line of sight with out any walls or building materials in between. Happen with in 3 meters as well?

There is newer FW available here if you are interested in updating:
http://www.dlink.com/de/de/support/product/dir-825-xtreme-n-dual-band-gigabit-router?revision=deu_revb

If you do choose to update, please follow this:
FW Update Process
Set up the router from scratch and test again with single mode N, manual channel 11, WPA2 and AES Only and Auto 20/40Mhz.

Let us know how it goes.

My nas laptop and htpc are in the same room,no wall between them.
I've set 5Ghz channel at 36-40
I didnt update the firmware yet,but i did reset the router to factory settings and setup things again.
I streamed a few tv shows and 2 movies without any problems so far :)
