Saving video on other server? FTP?
« on: May 10, 2013, 07:54:05 AM »

Hello,

I just bought the 5222l ( and I already have the 942l ) and I record the video's on the SD card.
I can look everything back on my Iphone so this works al fine.

But, If my camera is stolen then they also have the SD card with all the video's.
I read something about a ftp server but can someone please explane me how it works?
Is it possible to make a copy of the video's on a server so that I have the video's after they stole the camera?

Thank you!

Devlin, I also have the 5222L but haven't had the time to play with the FTP features.  I will try to play around with it more and let you know about the FTP features.

I too don't work for D-Link, but I don't see the need to rude.

I managed to play around a bit with my 5222L.  Here's what I found so far.

1) There is an FTP feature to transfer video to another location (via FTP).  This feature can be found under "Video Clip".  There are settings in this menu which you can further tailor your needs.

2) There is an "SD Recording" feature which will allow you to record images to an SD card.  There are settings in this menu which you can further tailor your needs.

I think you can enable both FTP and SD Recording features to duplicate your recordings.  You should test the FTP feature and make sure your link is fast enough to upload the video, or adjust the video profiles to suit your needs.

To answer your question: if someone takes your 5222L, and if you have the "Video Clip" feature enabled then you should have a copy of the video at your specified FTP location.

Hope this helps!
