empty files on ftp

Just got this camera, must say the setup on this is crap compared to the 5222.
I'm trying to get it to record video to a ftp server when it detects motion.
I see it detects motion, starts recording, but on ftp it just creates empty files, 0 bytes. (also some kind of .log file, which i can't see i have setup that i want)
Anyone know why?
