Keep us posted on when you hear back from DLink support. If you don't seem to get any information via email, I would highly recommend phone contacting DLink support and asking for Tier 2 or higher support.

Yes, news about it.

The support call me and explained me that DIR-636L doesn't support DLNA. And there is no and there will be not any firmware with this feature for the 636L.

" El DIR-636L también puede emplearse en el hogar como servidor multimedia WiFi para transmitir en streaming el contenido multimedia guardado en cualquier reproductor compatible con la tecnología DLNA, como la Boxee Box de D-Link."

This text from the spanish web (and the same is USA) is a comercial mistake. This router not support DLNA, only streaming through the SharePort app.

I was trying to get back to the shop, but it was late. I'm waiting news from the support again.

thanks for your support.

Did you ask them which model DIR series router does support DLNA?

The DIR-826L does from this listing here:
http://www.dlink.com/ca/en/home-solutions/connect/routers/dir-826l-cloud-gigabit-router-n600

Sorry that the 636 will not meet your needs. Please inquire about the DIR-826L router.

I will forward this onto my contact here and see if the information is correct.

Hi,

i have bought a DIR-636L  A1 with the FW Ver 1.01, and I have problems with the DLNA Server, since I updated it to 1.04.

I am using a miniDLNA Server on Ubuntu 12.04, and my TV is a Samsung ue40es6100.
Every device is wired, with fixed IP-s.

With Ver 1.01  worked fine, but after this update, when I am watching any media content(mp4, avi, etc.) the DLNA connection brakes after 8 minutes.

I put my old router (DI-604) back, and it doesn't brakes.
Is it bug in the new FW? Any workaround or patch would be nice.
Thanks

I'ts recommended that you get into a DIR series router that support DLNA as the 636L does not. The 826L does.

Please phone contact your regional D-Link support office and find out the models that support DLNA.

Good Luck.
