issues with FTP, anyone got it working?
« on: October 01, 2013, 09:02:26 PM »

I've got the latest firware going. I've got a local FTP server setup on my home PC and can login just find via the IP address.

I then setup on the cam under SETUP/FTP and get all the correct information in there including the correct path. I don't use localhost but the IP of this computer. I then test and then look at STATUS and see...

FTP Server Test Can not upload image file.

I see if I put the wrong server in there it tells me, so I can only assume that I got the login correct. All firewalls are turned off and I've tried passive mode too.

Any ideas?

PS E-Mail Test works just fine...

Can you login from another pc?

your firewall is probably  blocking outside connections to pc.

So check there.

We have no other PC on the home LAN to test from and as stated the firewall is turned off. I'm able to login locally to see the FTP service is running fine on my Mac.

How is ftp setup? Username password? Try simple passwords without special characters. Abcd only.

Your question got me thinking and I found a FTP client for my iphone/ipad...I can login to my FTP server (iMac) just fine with my credentials.

Otherwise the new cam works flawlessly...just cannot get it to connect to the FTP. The logging system leaves a bit to be desired. THe next step is to take it off the wifi and hardwire it into the switch to see if that helps the situation...

I should add when I try the root "/" it says the "Can not upload image file" (or similar) and when I try an embedded directory such as "/test" it tells me it "Failed to change directory (or similar). I've tried both passive (and active) and even rebooted the cam.

Test file has been sent for upload. Please check STATUS > Device Info menu to view success or failure of FTP upload.

ftp dir:  /C/2230
FTP Server Test Failed to change directory.
ftp dir: C/2230
FTP Server Test Failed to change directory.

ftp dir:/
FTP Server Test Test succeeded.

ftp dir:/C/
FTP Server Test Test succeeded.

This camera is different.. needs / before and after. Needs folders created on server, will not auto-create like other DCS cameras (2230?)

Test images were on my FTP server.  My username was anonymous with no password, so no special characters.  _ in folder or root names might also cause issues with these cameras.
