DIR-645 and SMB / Samba
« on: September 24, 2013, 09:15:11 AM »

Hello,

i have a littele problem with my DIR-645. At first i had to say i am using Ubuntu and Linux Mint and i have installed the newest firmware 1.04.

Now my problem. I installed the DIR because my Router have no good wlan. Now i dont have any problems with wlan. Now i tried to install a usb-stick on the DIR-645. There are no Problems to connect from wlan and lan over the DIR-645. Problem is, i have some computers that are not directly connected to the DIR. To explain i have to networks and i want to acces from the network outside the DIR-645 to the usb-stick inside the network of the DIR-645. By using Browser and accessing by Port 8181 that is no Problem, but i can not connet to the usb-stick by Samba. Is ther a special config of the firewall needed or somthin else?

Hope someone can help my an excause my bad english.

Link>Welcome!
  • What region are you located?

Remote access is probably not possible as the storage access is limted to the LAN side of the router. You would need to set up the USB stick on a PC and probable use Virtual Server to set up a rule to access the PC and the USB drive that way.

Hello,

i read some german infos for config. But the problem is, pc have alwas to run to access the usb-stick, that ist not what i want. My idea was to use the DIR-645 like a little NAS. If the access isn't possible by wan, can i use the DIR-645 in bridge-mode by connecting all cables on lan-side and access the stick in this configuration? Does everybody know?

greatings...

The DIR-645 is not supporting of bridge mode.

Bridge Mode vs Relay vs Acess Point (AP) / Routers vs Dedicated Access Points (AP)

You can only access the connected USB device from the LAN side...
