I just can't let this go ...
I thought the problem might have been a "corrupted" firmware file (unlikely in the extreme I know) so I downloaded the file again after reading the useful do's and don'ts
article from JavaLawyer. But, I am
still experiencing the same problems with the FTP server.
Really? I ask myself. FTP is a simple and well understood protocol - how can it be buggy from one version of firmware to another? Why hasn't anyone else got the same problem?
I am running three WD30EZRX-00DC0B0 hard drives in RAID 5 which are on the
compatible drive list and they all pass the SMART test.
I reside in Australia and bought the DNS-345 via ebay in Australia. The original firmware I downloaded was from the
D-Link Australia site.
FTP is important to me as I want to store all my video files on the NAS to consume on my iPad through
AVPlayer. This app has no problems getting files through FTP with firmware version:
DLINK_DNS345.1.01b09(1.01.0315.2012)(BETA)
but cannot connect with version:
DLINK_DNS345.1.02b04(1.02.0129.2013)(BETA)
This does not seem to be a problem with the app as the online
FTP tester (I found through these forums)
also reports an error (as noted in my earlier post).
I am becoming convinced that there is a problem and it's not me (although I usually assume it is).
It would be really, really helpful if someone could test simple FTP outside of their own local network and see if they replicate my problem with the FTP tester.
Please?
