Newly inserted HD formatting procedure: data at risk?
« on: December 13, 2013, 11:39:32 PM »

Hi there,

I have inserted a new HD to setup Raid1 process. To avoid any risk over the existing HD and its data, I need support to fully understand the right procedure.

Doubts come with the last step where both HD are indicated and the "scaring" button called FORMAT appear.

Steps:
- in Hard Drive Configuration menu I select "Configure Newly inserted Hard Drive"
- On the pop-up window I go next
- in Step1 the HD is correctly identified and I select Raid1
- In Step2 it is proposed the already existing HD to be used to reconfigure Raid1
- In Step3 I leave in Disable Automated rebuilt
- In Step5 appear the Format button

So, my question is does this procedure format both HD (by selecting Raid1 option) or only the newly inserted HD?

Thanks in advance
Paolo

This DNS 320L only support EXT4 and EXT5.
unsupport ntfs or fat32 neither fat.
if don't want to format place new HDD. both then copy the file to DNS 320L then good luck.
