I guess my motives are for compatibility and operability of the device, and not profit. In the firmwares current state i'm surprised that they arn't already replacing devices.

Besides most people understand that when you enter into an Alpha Test, or Beta for that matter that things can go wrong, and devices break. All Dlink has to do is let people know that the testing will be done at the users own risk.
