Authentication Issues (bug?)
« on: January 20, 2014, 01:15:54 AM »

So I recently bought my DGL-5500, immediately updated it to 1.11 and was off and running.

The only real issue I'd been having was concerning WPA pass-phrases aka preshared key. If I used a pass-phrase with a space in it non of my devices would connect unless I used the WPS authentication button. If I used a pass-phrase with no space, everything is kosher.

Can anyone else confirm this behavior with 1.11? It also occurs with 1.01.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

It maybe that spaces in PWs for D-Link routers is not supported, not a WiFi PW standard or specifically this router. Normally I don't use or never have used spaces in PWs for WiFi. I would presume that spaces in PWs on this router is just not supported and is not a bug.

I am located in the United States. It's good to know that it might just be standard behavior. Again, if anyone could confirm this it would be much appreciated. My Cisco routers never gave me any trouble with spaces in my pass-phrases.

Can you post or PM me your PW string that your using with a space in it.

I've been told that the DGL-5500 accepts spaces...How many characters do you have in your PW string?

My password string is "shark attack". Obviously without the quotes.

Maybe someone else can test this out as I don't have mine online at the moment...
