Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
What wireless modes are you using?
2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N? ---Mixed n and g
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only. --20/40
Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. -----It is 6 currently.
What does Single Node N mean ?
If all of your devices support N mode, then you could run the WiFi setting in single mode N instead of mixed G and N. Not all devices support N mode. You'll need to refer to the devices Mfr support site for information regarding specs. What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. --WPA2/AES
Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected? --Laptops, Phones, gaming...
Any cordless house phones? --Yes
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? ---Bunch.
How many? Or can you post a screen shot of the InSSIDer app results? If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
What are these: HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it
This explains HT 20/40 http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0 Basically, if you can run single mode N, WPA2 and AES only, you can disable HT20/40Mhz C if all of your devices support single mode N. This will provide the best performance.Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
6" minimum safe distance between devices.
How many devices are you connecting on WiFi? ----6/7
Any wired devices that have a LAN connection that does any heavy streaming or gaming, I highly recommend using the LAN wired connect to the back of the router for best network performance. Gaming on video streaming on WiFi can be problematic as more devices are being used.
I'd also recommend setting up some QoS rules for gaming and video streaming and those devices that just need general internet connections.
Gaming and QoS for XBLLook at the OtherDevices Rule for an example.
