DIR-825 - Need older firmware version
« on: March 26, 2014, 03:04:04 PM »

I'll admit I know virtually nothing about routers.  I have had my DIR-825 for a while now and never checked into firmware upgrades.  Now I have 2.02NA and need to go to 2.07NA.  The not-very-helpful support person emailed me that I need to upgrade to 2.06 before I can go to 2.07, but I have no idea how to do that - I don't see anywhere that lets me download that version.  Can anyone help?

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

Please go here and select the Rev drop down menu: Select Rev B.
http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-825

The first row displayed under TYPE, select the version drop down menu.
Select v2.06 and download it to the desktop. You'll need to unpack the .bin file from the .zip file.

Please go here and select the Rev drop down menu: Select Rev B.

Select v2.09 and download it to the desktop. You'll need to unpack the .bin file from the .zip file.

3rd Party Security Software Configurations
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

Using IE or FF only, DO NOT USE CHROME!
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.

Do a factory reset on the router with one wired LAN PC connected to the back of the router. Disable or turn OFF all other devices. You can do a factory reset from the routers web page at 192.168.0.1 under Tools/System.

Wait for the reset and the router to come back to ready. Go to the Tools/Firmware page on the router and select upgrade router by locating the v2.06.bin file you have on the desktop.

Select Send FW file and accept the popup messages. Wait for the router to process the FW file and come back to ready.

Once ready, Go to the Tools/Firmware page on the router and select upgrade router by locating the v2.09.bin file you have on the desktop.

Select Send FW file and accept the popup messages. Wait for the router to process the FW file and come back to ready.

Once ready, do a factory reset from the routers web page at 192.168.0.1 under Tools/System once more then set up the router from scratch using the set up wizard.

I'm not sure about the region - I'm located in Connecticut.

I went to the link you provided and there is no TYPE - I tried to provide a screen shot but it won't work.  The only categories I have are Downloads, FAQs and Videos.  I double checked the link to the page and it matched.  Now what?
