Lots of issues with this router.
« on: June 10, 2009, 02:32:20 PM »

Running Firmware 1.15.

1st problem is I can't connect to my computer via remote desktop anymore. I am using the right IP address. I don't think I have to forward ports since I didn't have to on my last linksys router even though I have 2 pcs hooked up to the router. Anyway, I can't find Port Forwarding in the setup, so I wouldn't be able to.

2nd, my Synergy program (enables 1 mouse for 2 computers over network) stopped working as soon as I installed this router. What is going on? On the display screen it keeps saying its blocked packets.

3rd problem is I can't enable wireless. When I save the enable wireless setting, it reboots, and it is still off!

I believe this router is blocking the things I need.

Also, I've tried updating to the 1.20 firmware, it says its successful, and upon reboot, it still says 1.15!

I may have to go back to a simpler router that just works. Any suggestions?

Well I'd tell you to try 1.16 fw first.  Save your gateway settings to your hd then use the hard reset button on the router.  Immediately after it reboots tell it to flash to the new fw and it should take.  1.16 will let you make changes without turning stupid.  1.20 will fail after a few days or large file transfers whichever happens first.

1.16 was taken down.  It was a beta.  it was literally no different from 1.20.  I suggest you hold off on any of the firmware for right now, until I test the new stuff out a bit more.

About how much longer till a more stable release?

I only have a few weeks to return this router. I think all these issues are a little crazy for a router that cost me $160.

1.16 did not require a reboot every couple of days.  If you want it pm me with your email address and I'll send it to you.

agreed 1.16 did not need a reboot every few days. However the issue I ran in to was the WAN port would reset. It was a brief disconnect and reconnect. Definitly better than having to manually reboot the router.
