Dlink DIR-825 saying limited connection for wifi
« on: July 29, 2014, 04:33:42 PM »

Hey, my Dlink DIR-825 isn't letting me get on the internet.
I just got a new cable/internet provider (I switched from Comcast to WOW) and installed a new modem. The problem is, my router doesn't seem to be connecting properly with it or something of the sort. I have it plugged in correctly, even swapped around ethernet cables and I can't get a working wifi connection or even an ethernet connection through the router. I'm currently using my desktop plugged into the modem (Arris TG862) itself which is working normally.
The blue lights in the front indicate that it has both a connection to the internet and wifi.
Even the laptops and tablets indicate that there is a strong signal (all 5 bars when moved close to the router) but no matter what it either says "limited" or "no internet access"
This is pretty urgent, so I'd really appreciate a response.
Thanks for your time.

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
FW Update Process
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
  • Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
  • What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
  • Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.
  • Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values
