Newbie needs help setting up Linksys router w/DNS321
« on: July 06, 2009, 06:21:27 PM »

Installed my new DNS 321 without any problems, but now I'm trying to acces it via the internet. I can FTP to it via my LAN @ 192.168.1.102, but can not access it via the WAN. I have read about the router setup, port forwarding, UPnp forwarding and had made those changes, to no avail.

Is there anyone out there that can give some advice as to what I may be doing wrong or overlooking?

What URL should I be entering in my browser? (FTP://192.168.1.102 does work on my LAN, but not from an outside computer)

Additional info from the setup page of the router:
   IP Address: 24.110.218.235
   Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0
   Default Gateway: 24.110.218.1
   DNS: 207.69.188.186, 207.69.188.187
And the DNS 321 Status page:
   LAN INFO :
   IP Address:  192.168.1.102
   Subnet Mask:  255.255.255.0
   Gateway IP Address:  192.168.1.1
   Mac Address:  00:22:B0:E9:4E:49
   DNS1:  207.69.188.186
   DNS2:  207.69.188.187

Thanks in advance.

You would use your external IP that is being routed through your router. By the looks of it...

ftp://24.110.218.235

Connected to 24.110.218.235.
220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [TLS] ----------
220-You are user number 1 of 10 allowed.
220-Local time is now 21:38. Server port: 21.
220 You will be disconnected after 2 minutes of inactivity.
User (24.110.218.235:(none)):

By the look of it your port is open and working.
