Username/password wrong, but able to access to files
« on: November 07, 2014, 11:20:55 AM »

Hi, there is a strange problem. At this moment I'm writin this my device is working and I'm saving some files on it.  It looks like everything works fine. But if I try to access device settings via IP address through browser (Chrome, IE11). my device is saying that I entered wrong username and password. Also, if I try to connect to device via mydlink.com page, it says that my  device is not online, but other computer connected to this router is online (I'm writing this message from computer connected to this router via UTP cable).  I tried to launch D-Link setup utility, but this utility can't find any NAS device on network, (install is started on this computer) but I'm able to copy files from this computer on mounted folder on NAS device???  What I can say that login problem now happens every time when external IP address changes (or when I disconnect this computer from network when going to work and when I come back loging in is not working. If I switch off device from power and start it again, than I can use username and password and my NAS device is visible to D-Link setup program which previously was not able to recognise my NAS on network.

Now my NAS contains a lot of data (2x4TB WD RED disks) and I'm afraid to lose this data and a bit annoyed to constantly power off and power on device to be able to login while I can access files on shared folder without any problem  in same moment. Very strange

Thank you for your support.

PS I can send you pictures or movies.

Welcome!

Has this worked since you installed this unit or is this a new problem?

What FW is currently loaded on the unit?

PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection
