The router at my home died and I'm looking for some advice about how to best setup a new network.
My cable enters my home in a utility room in the basement where my Comcast modem is located. Previously I ran an ethernet cable from the modem to the first floor where it connected into a Lynksys EA4500. From there I ran another ethernet cable back to the utility room and cascaded the EA4500 with an older Lynksys router to service the basement.
I haven't had much success with Linksys so with another failed Linksys product, I'm looking to another manufacturer to setup my home network.
Upsatairs the following items connect to the wi-fi signal- 2 Laptops, iPad, Dell tablet, 3- iPhones, iPod, TV and Blueray player. My kids occasionally take their phones, computers, tablets etc to the 2nd floor so I need coverage to the second floor.
Downstairs I have an ethernet cable run from the cascaded router to a switch that services my Pioneer receiver and the Xbox. I have a treadmill, Blueray and WiiU that connect to the wi-fi signal from that router.
Any suggestions on routers and extenders along with the placement would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
