I have the DNS-323. The unit reported that Raid 1 was degraded. I feared/assumed 1 drive was bad, even though there were no amber lights.
Log file reported "HDD1 failed"
Auto rebuild page reported s/n 9190
Right was s/n 5814 Left was s/n 9190
Firmware is 1.10
I bought an external enclosure and downloaded the WD diagnostic software.
S/n 5814 test failed when in the external enclosure. I cannot access this drive in the external enclosure.
S/n 9190 tesed good when in the external enclosure. Win 7 can "see the drive", but I can not access the data. "Disk Management" sees the drive and sees the partitions, but there are no drive letters. And the option to "change drive letters" is greyed out/not available. Diskpart sees the drive and sees them as partitions, not volumes. Diskpart will opnly assign a drive letter to a volume.
So.....
Can I put my good drive, s/n 9190, back in the DNS-323, and leave the other slot empty, will I be able to read the data to copy it to another drive?
Going to try this, as I see no harm will come of it.
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
