DSL-2770L problem with remote wake on lan
« on: February 18, 2015, 09:42:27 AM »

Hi everybody!

I can't use the wake on lan function from remote to wake up my pc. I want to use the broadcast address 192.168.1.255, in local way all works fine, so the broadcast address works, the wol works and the pc is correctly configurated. I have forwarded the port #9 to the broadcast address without problems, but from internet I can't wake up the pc. Actually I have Firmware Version: 1.03. What can I try?

Thanks everybody!

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

Have you tried using Virtual Server?
Are there any EndPoint features in the Firewall that is available? Try EndPoint Independent if there is any such feature.

There is a WoL FAQ that you can review and see if it helps:
Router FAQ

FYI, some model modems and routers no longer support WoL. You might want to phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask about this.

I've read all. I'm in Europe, but I only ask for a tip, I can't find a solution for that and I need it. So i hope that here someone can find the solution for the problem.

I've used virtual server for forward port to a local address, the problem is only for remote broadcast, indeed:
1) if i forward the port #9 to the specific ip of the pc the wol works fine even remotely, but after a few minutes the router doesn't link the local ip to the mac address so this work only for 5-10 minutes
2) if i forward the port to the broadcast address 192.168.1.255 the wol doesn't work remotely but work on lan

so the problem is to find a way to send a wol at broadcast ip via internet.

Thanks for reply and for the help

You are using the modem as your main modem and its not connected to anything else right accept for the phone line?

I would phone contact D-Link support and ask them if this model modem supports WoL and has loopback. It's possible it may not support these features...I don't have this model modem or the experience know about it. Let us know what support says about it.

thanks again for reply. There is nothing between the router and the phone line, under the lan there is a switch but the pc that I want to wake up is connected directly via ethernet at the router. For ask to support I need to install an extension for internet explorer, downgrade the firmware of the router, compile 1000 forms... I hope that there is another way to solve this

thanks again

I would recommend using the phone. We find that using the phone to contact D-Link support results in faster response.

Let us know if you get any information.
