Replacing hard drive

Hello,

I have been using my DNS-320 as a movie server for about 18 months with a 2TB drive in Standard mode. The drive is now almost full.

I have a backup (2 actually) and have just ordered a replacement WD Red 3TB drive. The backups are on external hard drives connected to another PC on my LAN.

Could somebody please talk me through the correct way to replace the drive?

I realise this might be seen as a trivial question - I just wanted to make sure that there weren't any pitfalls in the procedure.

So.... is it as simple as switching the device off, taking the old drive out, fitting the new one and configuring it via the web interface?

Yes, but it will take some time to re-copy all of the data from your backup.  You could also just add the new drive in the second bay and copy it internally if you want.  Just configure the new drive as standard.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of adding the new drive with the existing one in situ and copying my files over. That sounds like a great idea.
