Guest Wifi
« on: April 23, 2015, 11:43:17 PM »

Hello all.
First i have to say, excuse me that i open this topic. I know there are several ones here. But until now i did not got my guest Wifi working (maybe i am too stupid).
What i have is DAP-2695, Firmware 1.01, updated on Tuesday 21. of April (should be the last one), one DGS-1210-28P/C1, Hardware Version 1, Firmware 4.00.024 (should be the last one too). One Cisco Router for the company LAN and one Router for the Guest Wifi.
Both Routers do DHCP functionality.
What i want is that i connect both routers to the switch, then connect the switch with the DAP and there use 2 Wifi networks. All should be separated.
I tried a lot. VLAN on the switch is working. I have 4 Ports on the Switch in VLAN2 and on these ports i get an IP Address from the "Guest Router".
The other ones get the IP from the "Company Router". So far it works.
No i tried to set up the VLAN on the DAP and nothing worked for me until now.
Maybe one of you has the right hint for me.
DAP should have Primary SSID 2,4 and 5GHz Named "Company" with management and LAN1
Secondary SSID 2,4 and 5GHZ named "Guest Wifi" with LAN2
LAN1 is connected to Switch Port 11
LAN2 is connected to Switch Port 12
Any idea how i can get this working?

Thank you very much

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

Having two routers on the same switch maybe problematic at best. It's not recommended to have 2 routers on the same line or switch as your having to deal with two DHCP services trying to hand out addressing on the same switch. However having VLAN abilities should be able to separate the two routers. I presume a configuration would need to be reviewed on this to see how it can be done and if the DAP supports the use of both it's LANs and using GZ on one LAN and not the other which I'm unsure of.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
