i talked to an audio/visual media rep I deal with and he said that if the 4K content is compressed, it maybe possible to stream it over lower band width connections. However if you have raw 4K, theres no way. CAT6 would be recommended to stream RAW or CAT6A which is 10Gb supporting. I presume it all depends on how the 4K data is compressed and streamed.
IMO 4K is a long ways out and the standard for it has not been finalized. I give maybe 5 years before we see some real use at a home user level...maybe. I just installed a 4K compliant projector screen so maybe if 4K come about and it's affordable, maybe i'll get into it. Everything would need to be changed out to support 4K. Oy vay.
