Properties Button in SharePort (4.40) Permanently Disabled
« on: March 23, 2015, 02:39:06 PM »

I recently upgraded to a DIR-862L cloud router and installed SharePort Plus 4.40 on my Win 7 Desktop and Win 8.1 Surface tablet. Got everything up and running and I can see and access the USB flash drive attached to the router. However, both the 'Properties' and 'Request Use' buttons in SP are permanently disabled (on both machines).

Right clicking on a device in the SharePort window brings up the 'Map network drive', 'Open', 'Safely remove', and 'Refresh' context menu. Page 16 of the old (but most recent?) 4.0 SP manual shows a different context menu which includes Properties.

There seems to be no way to access a device's properties. I have tried downgrading to both versions 4.30 and 4.21 of SP and the results are the same.

Any ideas why everything seems to work fine except for these two buttons? I would like access to the device properties. Thanks for any suggestions.

Can you post a screen shot of this?

It's possible that those features were removed with the v4.40...

Actually, after thinking about it for a bit (I'm somewhat of a network newbie), it seems that SharePort Plus isn't all that useful for a simple home network like mine. I can easily access the USB devices by opening \\192.168.0.1 in Windows Explorer. The network drives can then be mapped, renamed, linked from the Desktop, etc. In fact, I expect I will uninstall it. Of course, the iOS SharePort app is useful for accessing these USB drives from my iPod.
