Ftp path with spaces inside
« on: January 10, 2013, 07:50:00 AM »

I bought three DCS-942L to use them in an existing lan with a Seagate GoFlex Home NAS.
The NAS has an unchangeable root structure like this:
/goflex_home
   /GoFlex Home Backup
   /GoFlex Home Public
   /GoFlex Home Personal
and it is possible to create a new file or directory only inside one of them.
Unfortunately the ftp path in "Video Clip" or "Snapshot" pages in the setup page of the cam only accepts number, alphabet and characters:  "/" , "." , "-" , "_" :-X
I tried to replace the spaces with common %20 and \040 but they were rejected.
Is there any way to put spaces in this field or workarounds like editing a config file?
...otherwise I can install a custom firmware for my NAS, but it must be the last hope..

Thanks and sorry for my poor english

I tried to edit the settings.db file obtained from the cam but I  was unable because when loading to the cam it was recognized as corrupted..
Is there any tool to edit that file?

I have exactly the same problem. The ftp path in "Video Clip" or "Snapshot" pages in the setup page of the camera does not accept spaces, but my ftp folder structure DOES contain spaces. Please fix this problem in a firmware update! At the moment I have the following firmware:
Current Firmware Version: 1.20
Current Firmware Build Number: 2421
Current Agent Version: 2.0.16-b45

Maybe you can change the folder names?  Looks like someone did here - if that is original firmware they are using: http://www.openstora.com/phpBB3//viewtopic.php?t=1303 ***(disclaimer: at your own peril, not my idea, won't be held responsible)***

They really shouldn't put spaces in a FTP folder path(only terrorists do that), but it would also be nice to be able to escape spaces on the dlink cam with the backslash if required.

still a bug in firmware v1.22 :

it is not possible to use an FTP path with spaces inside to upload video clips to. furthermore, the ftp path has a maximum character length of 30 characters; this should be more. please fix this issue!

I have a DCS-5020L firmware version 1.11.08 (2015-08-15) and it seems, that the space problem in the path name is not solved yet.
D-link should really do something serious about this !!  ::)

It maybe that spaces are not supported in path conventions.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
